Inside were thirty interlocking bronze gears calculating eclipses, planetary orbits, and Olympic games two thousand years ago.

When archaeologists first examined the fragments, they dismissed it as impossible for ancient Greece.

Nothing this mechanically complex was built anywhere on Earth for another thousand years.

X-ray imaging revealed gear teeth smaller than a millimeter and instructions engraved directly into the bronze.
