Editorial Standards & Archival Methodology
Echoes of History Uncut operates under rigorous journalistic and historical standards. We believe that public history must be anchored in declassified primary records, verifiable museum deposits, and transparent methodology.
Hierarchy of Archival Evidence
Not all sources carry equal weight. When investigating contested historical events, military encounters, or intelligence operations, our editorial desk classifies documentation into three strict tiers:
Declassified intelligence files, official naval/military logbooks, court transcripts, parliamentary records, and sovereign archival deposits (NARA, UK National Archives Kew, French Archives Nationales).
Eyewitness letters, authentic diary entries written at the time of the event, telegraph dispatches, and contemporaneous newspaper coverage subject to corroboration.
Peer-reviewed university press monographs, academic dissertations, and curated museum catalogue essays providing specialized historical context.
The Two-Source Corroboration Rule
A fundamental requirement for any factual assertion on Echoes of History Uncut is independent corroboration. A single memoir or uncorroborated sensational article is never accepted as historical truth.
- Independent Verification: Factual claims must be corroborated by at least two distinct, independent records that do not cite each other.
- Divergence Disclosures: When archival records disagree (such as casualty figures or exact chronology), we state the conflicting perspectives explicitly rather than fabricating certainty.
- Direct Quotation Policy: Every quoted statement in our dossiers and video narrations reflects exact transcriptions from verified historical records.
AI Technology & Human Oversight (Google Policy Compliance)
In full alignment with Google's search guidance on automated content and AdSense publisher quality guidelines, we maintain strict human oversight across all research pipelines:
• Automated Assistance: Algorithmic tools and language models assist our researchers by scanning large open-access archival repositories, calculating chronological event alignment, and formatting time-synced subtitle tracks.
• Mandatory Human Gate: Every draft script, article narrative, primary source citation, and historical interpretation is reviewed, fact-checked, and approved by human editorial staff prior to release.
• Authentic Visual Assets Only: We never generate fictional or synthetic AI imagery depicting historical figures, battles, or events. Every photograph, oil painting, blueprint, and aerial map is an authentic historical artifact licensed via Wikimedia Commons, the Library of Congress, or national archives.
Corrections & Retractions Policy
Transparency requires acknowledging errors promptly. If new archival evidence refutes a claim or a factual error is discovered:
- 1. The correction is logged immediately on our public Corrections Registry.
- 2. The digital dossier is updated with an inline correction stamp detailing the adjustment and the settling source.
- 3. On video platforms, a pinned comment and video description note are added immediately. We never quietly alter records without disclosure.
